Sleep has a major impact on so many aspects of our life and most of us are familiar with how a lack of sleep can impact our quality of life and productivity. However, lack of sleep can have more systemic effects and new research has just looked at how sleep duration can impact cardiovascular disease (CVD) mortality risk in patients with type 2 diabetes.
Overall the study found, a J-shaped association was observed between sleep duration and all-cause and expanded CVD mortality, and a sleep duration of 5–7 h had the lowest mortality risk.
